Bob Gimlin saw Bigfoot Surplus and all his wife got was a lousy t-shirt
That's right, it was Bob Gimlin's second sighting. Only this time it wasn't in Bluff Creek, but at the Sasquatch Research Conference in Bellingham, Washington. Just as Mr. Gimlin entered the room, something big had taken him by surprise. Just behind the large group of bigfoot fans browsing the Bigfoot Surplus booth was the image he had to get. The official "Roger and Bob saw bigfoot and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" t-shirt!
In the name of market research we had to ask Mr. Gimlin what he thought of the Roger and Bob saw Bigfoot t-shirt. He loved it! However, being one of the only people that really couldn't wear this shirt, he still had to have one. That's when he said, "my wife will love this." So we selected the correct size and handed it to Mr. Gimlin and traded it for another autographed shirt that now resides in the collectibles room at Bigfoot Surplus.
The Patterson-Gimlin Film
For our readers that may not be familiar with who Bob Gimlin is - we offer a little background information.
It was in October 1967 when 2 men equipped with a 16mm movie camera went out on horseback in search of Bigfoot. They were Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin both from the Yakima, Washington area. Roger Patterson, a former rodeo rider had become extremely fascinated with the subject and even wrote a book titled, "Do Abominable Snowmen of America Really Exist?" which was published in 1966. Patterson then decided that he wanted to do a documentary film on Bigfoot.
Bob Gimlin, a friend of Roger's and also an experienced outdoorsman, agreed to go along on the expeditions.
While away exploring in Washington, some friends in Willow Creek California left messages with Patrica Patterson, Roger's wife, about reports of tracks in the Bluff Creek area. This area located in the Six Rivers National Forest, just south of the Oregon border, is now known as a Bigfoot hot spot.
Once Patterson got word, he and Bob Gimlin headed down to Bluff Creek to film and document the tracks. It was during this trip that one of the most famous and important Bigfoot sightings took place. It was early in the afternoon on October 20th when the men came across a Bigfoot walking along the sandbar. Patterson grabbed his camera and running towards the Bigfoot captured approximately 24 feet of film. In fact, it is the famous pose of frame 352, that Bigfoot Surplus uses for the star logo!
Even to this day, this film remains either the best evidence of the existence of Bigfoot or one of the most creative hoaxes ever pulled off... As for us here at Bigfoot Surplus, we are with Bob Gimlin and say - "Believe it!"
